Andrea, “Andie”, Nelson is returning for her second year at OCP as the Larks lead teacher. She has been successfully involved in education for nine years and has a wide range of experience. Andie holds a degree from Savannah College of Art and Design, and she deeply enjoys using her artistic skills to make her classrooms as creative as possible. Andie initially became involved in teaching while serving as an AmeriCorps Volunteer, where she taught environmental education within the Greater Atlanta community. After this fantastic experience, she became very interested in pursuing teaching as a career and knew teaching young children in a preschool setting was the best match for her talents. For years, Andie has worked in different types of schools and has guided very diverse groups of young children to be the very best they can be.
Andie has been living in Atlanta for three years after residing in Durango, Colorado, where she worked at a community-based preschool. Andie highly values the cooperative preschool setting and looks forward to teaching and being a part of the community at OCP. Andie’s philosophy is that we are here to guide the children in developing their unique selves by exposing them to an academically strong foundation while engaging them with new and exciting activities.
