Wendy Nelson is an environmental educator with a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Illinois and extensive natural history training. She has 25 years of experience working with children 2 to 12 years old as a naturalist, science teacher and scout leader. Prior to moving to Decatur Wendy taught preschool for 9 years at the North Atlanta Day School in Roswell. She has a particular affinity for pre-schoolers enjoying their wit, wisdom and worldview.
Wendy and her husband Bill Custer left the suburbs for Decatur 3 years ago in search of closer community ties and greater environmental consciousness. Having discovered the OCP, one of Georgia’s few green preschools, Wendy is excited to join its mission to help raise the next generation of stewards of the earth. She strives to foster a curiosity for the natural world through exploration and experimentation. She is also especially fond of costumed dramatics.
As a mother of three mostly grown children, Wendy has ‘old mom’ insights to share. Believing that our children are the future of the planet she is truly delighted to become part of the OCP family of learners.
