Maria Duarte is returning for her second year at OCP. Maria came to OCP from Boston, Massachusetts where she earned a Masters Degree in Arts and Teaching at Emmanuel College and a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice at the University of Massachusetts.
Her expertise was in teaching first and second grade students and substitute teaching kindergarten through eighth grade in Boston Public Schools. Having worked in Public school influenced her appreciation of working in a culturally rich and diverse environment. Having been placed in the early years she is happy and confident teaching this age group. The early years are the years when children grow and develop at the quickest pace. Maria enjoys seeing the children grasp a concept they previously haven’t grasped and seeing how pleased they are with themselves. Maria also enjoys the interaction with the children. At this age, they are so eager to learn and to share their experiences! Maria believes that recognizing the unique learning style of each child and nurturing their natural gifts encourages the preschool child to continue learning through exploration and discovery. Her time is centered on the children, and we at OCP aim always to put them first.
